Who we are
About Cat Shelter Diaries
Our Story: From the U.S. to the Night Shift
In 2021, the world shifted toward remote work, and we decided to shift with it - literally. We had gotten married, living in the US while the pandemic raged. We moved from the United States to Eastern Europe, trading the familiar for a life of global exploration. I kept my U.S.-based career, which means my workday doesn't officially begin until 3:00 or 4:00 PM.
What started as a logistical necessity became a life-changing opportunity. Having my mornings and early afternoons completely free allowed us to fall in love with daily walks through our local parks. It was during these quiet, daylight hours that we discovered a resilient community of survivors: a colony of community cats.
The Mission: Park to Pillow
Cat Shelter Diaries was born from the realization that these cats aren't just "strays" - they are individuals with stories, personalities, and names like Rusty, Karun, and Mica.
Our mission is a simple but dedicated one: Park to Pillow. We utilize a data-driven approach to rescue, focusing on:
Targeted TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return): Stabilizing the colony population and ensuring long-term health.
Specialized Medical Care: Managing chronic conditions like calicivirus and kidney health directly in the field.
The Socialization Ladder: Identifying which cats are ready to trade the cold ground for a warm sofa.
Why We Do It
We believe that transparency in rescue is vital. By documenting every "Daily Picnic," medical recovery, and adoption success, we aim to bridge the gap between people and the community cats that often go unnoticed. Whether you are here for the storytelling, the data, or to find your next family member, we are glad you’re part of the diary.
